Clint Spielberg

Anyone who sees Clint Eastwood’s Flags of our Fathers and who has little knowledge of the events leading up to World War II ( which nowadays is a lot of people) will come away with the following: The Battle of Iwo Jima was a meaningless horrific bloodbath in which the military and political leadership of the United States enlisted ordinary soldiers in a public relations campaign based on lies in order to raise money to finance the continuation of a meaningless horrific bloodbath.

Clint Eastwood used to be a rarity in the movie business: a no-nonsense patriotic conservative. Years ago he succumbed to the need to be taken seriously as an artist and thinker. While the “Dirty Harry” movies may have been hugely popular with audiences, the leftish intelligensia were appalled and considered Eastwood’s approach to crime to be “fascistic.” So he tried a more “nuanced” approach and thus became a darling of Hollywood’s elite who rewarded him with tribute television specials and numerous Academy Awards.

With Flags of Our Fathers, Eastwood has completed his journey to the left by joining the Spielbergian project (a producer of the picture) of rewriting history from a post-Vietnam/Watergate perspective; hence, war is never necessary and is always the result of government lies and deception.

Flags of Our Fathers fits in nicely with the dogma that Bush lied us into Iraq and the left’s campaign to disarm the United States.
